Unstoppable Robot Ninja

The site navigation:

I heart TextMate a little more.

I don’t think I could love TextMate more than I do right now. I just found out that some brilliant individual’s written a macro for TextMate that replicates some functionality I’ve long missed from my dear, departed HomeSite. The macro’s a thing of beauty: if your cursor’s sitting between two markup elements, you can highlight both tags (and everything ‘twixt) by pressing the keyboard shortcut.

Yes, I know. It’s a geeky little detail to get excited about. Now hush.

So, yes: TextMate is a little more lovely today. Now, if only that ridiculous single-character undo would get fixed…

It’s funny you should mention this. I was just sitting beside a co-worker who still insists on using HomeSite, and she did exactly this and I was bewildered. There’s some other cool little macros/shortcuts in there as well.

Yeah, it’s pretty much the one thing I miss about working on a PC. Every other text editor I’ve used gets measured against it.

I SO want to use TextMate, but the single-character undo is holding me back. Why, WHY?!? must a modern app be missing such a simple, yet vital feature?

    Short answer? Developer bias.

Believe me, I hear you: I hate the undo with the heat of a thousand suns. Even more maddening is that the developer has been promising a fix for the past couple years.

But despite all that, I’ve muscled through and have really come to love the damned program. It’s easily the best text editor I’ve used on the Mac.
