Known issues

Just posting this here for my own bugfixin’ purposes. Here’s what I’ve got so far:

  • The site’s a bit crashy in IE6 and 7. Seems tied to the liquid layout. Think this should be squared away now.
  • Safari crashes out with auto-complete on the site’s forms. Bug’s been dropped like it’s hot.
  • The forms aren’t styled properly in Win/IE. That’s what I get for trying to be all clever and restyle table elements. Fixed, Rick James style.
  • The Contact form is borked. Namely, EE is throwing an error, and emails aren’t getting sent. Currently looking into it. Fixed. Finally.
  • CSS-resized images look like warmed-over ass (…did I just type that?) in Windows-based browsers. I’ve implemented a fix for IE, but other Windows browsers are still borked. Yay, borked.
  • Linux users are getting bit by the Flash/wmode="transparent" bug with the sIFR headlines. Not sure what I can do about this—I think this issue rests square on Adobe’s shoulders—but I’ll definitely look into it.

Bulletins as they happen. Debugging is scintillating, isn’t it?

Let me know if you come across anything else. Grazie.

I’m sure you haven’t, but you may want to make sure you have the full EE instal and not the Core. I know of people who have mistakenly upgraded with the wrong version and have broken their contact forms as a result. Just a thought…

  2. The Robot says:

Thanks, Patricia. I do have the full install, but that was a great idea!

Not so much a bug as a request; it would be great if the linklog-style posts had the actual link in their RSS feed entry. At the moment the link is to that entry’s detail page on your site, from which you have to follow the link through to the original item.

Wow, surely that can’t make sense.

    Drew: For you, anything.

(This was something I’d planned to do at the outset, but I’m an Expression Engine newbie…what can I say?)

    Beautiful – thank you.

Just picked up a copy of EE myself – looking forward to grabbing some time to play with it.

Lush design and technically marvellous – liquid and elastic at the same time – awesome.

Regarding this comment form – I like to know if I’m allowed HTML or Textile or Markdown or not.

Plus: CSS-resized images look like warmed-over ass in Windows. Or at least in all XP browsers. Don’t know about Vista though. But so what? All your readers are Mac dudes and dudettes, right? So they rewarded with non-ass imagery.

Rich, great points. I’ve been meaning to flesh out the comment form, so thanks for bringing that up.

Regarding CSS-resized images, you’re so right. Someone suggested having a play with swFIR, which I might have to do—of course, if you have any suggestions, I’d love to hear ‘em.
