When I got my MacBook back in February, I felt almost exactly the opposite. It was very well packed. My Flickr set doesn’t exactly do it much justice, but… http://www.flickr.com/photos/ishane/sets/72157603776779069/

Since I didn’t find a way to comment on your LINK-posts, I’m just going to say it here:

I don’t know what scares me the most – the signed 500 limited-edition prints of the New York subway map, or Vogue for men.

Runa, thanks for the note. Fixed the bug you noticed, so comments should be open on links from here on out.

And yes: Vogue for Men leaves me feeling lonely and cold. So very, very cold.

Not that it’s an excuse (mine came the same way) but at least it’s all recyclable. And the actual keyboard packaging (ignoring the shipping packaging) is exquisitely minimal. In fact, if you think about how many of those they can ship en masse (either from China, or to individual stores) in one vessel, it’s quite efficient. Clearly they still need to work on their depot>customer logistics.

Yeah, I’ve cooled my jets a bit on this front, largely because the packaging was recyclable. Still seems a bit excessive, but meh.
