This hits a little close to home, and tells me that I need to keep making my video tutorials.

You’re damn right you do. The Artcasts have some great tips in them.

Thanks so much for reposting this! Anton says above that it hits home with him. Well, it really hits home with me. I’m in my second year as a web designer and I totally feel this way. It’s so nice to have some validation.

I was just thinking yesterday how much I like Jason Santa Maria’s work and Cameron Moll’s work (among many others of course) and I also thought that they didn’t start out where they are now. It takes time to cultivate that kind of talent.

My taste totally rocks! (IMHO ;-) But my work is just not there, yet I know if I keep plugging away at it, it will be there someday.

Thanks so much for this. Couldn’t come at a better time, frankly :)

I hear you, man—and very well said. Ira’s video definitely struck a chord with me, too. Here’s to closing that taste-talent gap, and soon.

Wow. That was appropriately timed. Two weeks ago I wanted to die because I lack skill. One week ago I started to recognize that that’s okay; I’ll survive without it.
    Then this.

    Thanks, Ethan.
